A Little Bit About UsProgramme S.U.R.E. is an alternative education program designed to assist students who are struggling with successfully completing their time in traditional secondary schools. Students who are selected are typically chronically disruptive students
Started as a project (Project S.U.R.E.), Programme S.U.R.E. (Success Ultimately Reassures Everybody) was established on the campus of the Industrial Training Centre under the direction of Dr. Bernard Nottage, Minister of Education and Culture (1992) on February 17, 1992. The Programme began with 65 students, five teachers, one counselor, and one security officer. The objectives of the programme were: a) to modify the behaviour of disruptive male students ages 14 to 16 years of age and; b) to return all students to mainstream schools within three months or less. Today Programme SURE accomodates a student capacity of 30 students and the objectives of the Programme remain; a) to assist students with the tools to grow personally and; (b) to assist all students to return successfully to mainstream schools within three months.[i] |
